Our History (Est. 1999)

Southern Events, formerly Sussex Sound Services Limited and QSV Discos was formed by Tom Stovold and Michael Webb in November 1999. At the age of 16 Tom was DJ'ing with Mike at all sorts of events from Weddings to Birthdays! Tom still actively DJ's at many events and is available to hire. Every aspect of the business grew over the next few years when Mike decided to leave full time DJ'ing and now works part time as a professional freelance DJ. At this point Nick Collins (previously NCD Discos of polegate) joined forces with Tom in the business which was now known as Sussex Sound Services Limited. Over the next 2 or 3 years we introduced many different services other than simple Discos and Karaoke parties. Sam Imber joined the team in 2005 shortly before the business became Southern Events.  Our connections with other companies grew including Bingham's Catering, Mitchell's Fun Fair & Ace Inflatables which supply all our Inflatables and games. The Mobile Nightclub was born in 2006 starting off in marquees and then developed into a inflatable structure we had built in china! In 2007 Chris Hewison is the most recent addition to the team, he has brought huge motivation to the Mobile Nightclub theme. Gemma Rance became part of the team with our connections with Hadlow College, she is now one of our freelance DJ's. Symon Ervin joined us in August 2009 as our licensed bar manager and cocktail extraordinaire! We dare you to try his latest inventions, they will blow your brains!
